I woke up to ill news today. Elyssa Duncan filled me in. Trish Keenan was only 42 when she died in the hospital after weeks in intensive care.
Broadcast is a band that was doing what you wanted to do with music before you knew you it was possible. It's 50's Disney sing-along and big band swagger with a dash of 8-bit mome rath nightmare.
I truly believe bands like Atlas Sound, Bibio, and Grouper would not sound the way they do if it wasn't for Broadcast.
Thankfully, Trish Keenan still exists in her music and she will continue to haunt us.
“Before she went to Australia Trish sent me a mix CD of bonkers pop music she compiled, I never thanked her. Its called Mind Bending Motorway Mix and I want to share it with you, please pass the link on, share it far and wide, its a little tribute to an (as a friend referred to her today) exhilarating woman…”
