R.I.P. Slats

No more Slats?!?!?!?!? Nooooooooo!!!

According to Guitar Doug, Chris "Slats" Harvey of Pain Cocktail and Silly Killers has passed away.

"Slats died of natural causes Saturday, March 13, 2010. He was under the care of his mother and some of Seattle best doctors, but just was not able to hold on any longer.

Slats was the guitarist for the band Pain Cocktail, which has always been one of my all time favorite local bands to see live. The band also features Blake on vocals, and Lauren Goffin (The Wrecked Chords) on bass.
 

Slats had planned to record an album and was scheduled to be interviewed in coming months for Artist of the month in the Seattle Sinner Magazine by me.

While in the hospital, Slats told me he was very touched by all the people from the rock community who visited him, called him and threw benefit concerts for him.

Slats was genuinely surprised to learn how many people cared about him."

When I lived off of Summit & Howell on Capitol Hill, Slats would stroll by often. I saw him at a few barbeques across the street too. He was an icon of punk rock that kept many inspired. "If he could do it, I could do it"- Seattle youth. Many would agree, if you saw Slats there, it was going to be a good night. Here was a man that played music and partied till the very end. Chris, you will never be forgotten. I vote your face on the Capitol Hill $1 bill.
